ICEM Global Framework Agreement with Rhodia
The ICEM Global Framework Agreement with French specialty chemicals producer Rhodia, originally signed in Paris on 31 January 2005, includes strong language regarding responsible behaviour by the company’s suppliers and subcontractors.
The agreement is supported by ICEM French affiliates Fedechemie CGT-FO and Federation Chimie Energie CFDT.
The agreement has since been strengthened setting formal ICEM involvement in tracking “Rhodia Way” performance; it creates a joint safety issues discussion group; allows the agreement’s application to be audited by an outside expert jointly chosen by the two parties; and, following successful early joint missions, sets up an annual mission to a country to assess terms of the accord.
In addition a joint Global Safety Forum has been created in order to bring higher health and safety standards into the company for its 15,000 worldwide employees.
Having agreed to an addendum to clarify terms and conditions of the global forum, ICEM and Rhodia signed and officially established the body in 2010.

 化学産業及び製薬産業は世界経済の立役者的役割を果たしている産業である。医学や医療制度の進歩、新しい反応性物質の開発、将来を志向し環境にやさしい技術の導入などが当該産業に特化した役割の枠組みを規定するキーワードである。また同時に、当該産業に担うべき責任を規定するキーワードとなっている。
ILOの推定では、世界各国の化学及び製薬産業で働いている労働者の数は1400万人である。2005年、化学産業及び製薬産業内の諸企業は合計1兆7760億ユーロの売上高を上げた。
化学産業は他のほとんどの産業と同様、世界規模でネットワーク化されている。多くの場合、以下の諸事例のように、国際労働運動の組織分割形態の前兆的兆候を提示している。
• 製薬産業の研究所は主要大学の近くに集中するようになった。特に米国東部においてこの傾向が顕在化している。
