ICEM Goodyear Network
Welcome to the ICEM network for unions on all continents organising within tyre multinational Goodyear.
Set up in 1999 by the 20-million-strong International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM), this network aims to promote solidarity, mutual support and information exchange between Goodyear workers and their unions worldwide.
The ICEM Goodyear network is administered by the USW (United Steelworkers - USA).
The network has its own blog, where news and comments can be found, in various languages: http://gygun.blogspot.com.
Global Solidarity is the network's regular newsletter.

The fourth regional meeting of the Asia-Pacific Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Workers’ Network was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 28 October, with 20 delegates from five Asian nations attending. Previous Goodyear Asia-Pacific network meetings were held in Manila, Philippines, in 2005; Singapore in 2002; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2000.

| Goodyear to Close South Pacific Tyre Plant in Australia at End of 2008 |

Australia will be left with only one tyre manufacturing plant at the close of 2008, following Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.’s decision to close its wholly-owned subsidiary, South Pacific Tyres. The company announced on 26 June that 600 rubber workers will lose their jobs when its Somerton car and light truck tyre operation shuts in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.
