ICEM Global Framework Agreement with Lukoil

The ICEM and OAO Lukoil signed a Global Agreement in May 2004 making the global oil company the first Eastern European headquartered company to sign an agreement. The ICEM undertook the agreement with affiliate Russian Oil, Gas and Construction Workers Union (ROGWU). The agreement links Lukoil's pledge on upholding human rights to the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and all trade union rights as enshrined in ILO Conventions and the UN's Global Compact. It also references the ILO's Code of Practice on HIV/AIDS, as well as a "family values" clause linked to ILO Convention 156 (workers with family responsibilities). The agreement is reviewed annually and it provides access and assistance to a Lukoil Workers' Network through their trade unions.
